10.02.11 - TONIGHT'S MEAL

Some easy easy meals - also delish! :)

ENTREE

PRAWN COCKTAIL

Homemade cocktail sauce YUM.
“Once you go to the effort of making cocktail sauce you’ll want to eat it with everything, not just prawns.” - Neil Perry

MAIN

HERB CRUSTED LAMB CUTLETS WITH STUFFED MUSHROOMS AND GREEN BEANS

This was also from the Junior Masterchef website like the dessert below and the pudding I made for my Mum's birthday. My parents liked the lamb and Mum loved the mushrooms. I wasn't that hungry so it didn't seem as nice to me as it should have been. Shame.

DESSERT
CHOCOLATE FONDANT WITH RASPBERRY COULIS AND FRESH BERRIES

Also from Junior Masterchef website. Just as easy to make as the last dessert I did. Taste - AMAZING. The fondant is very rich so only a small portion was needed but coldness of the cream and the sour taste of the berries and raspberry sauce made it perfectly balanced. HEAVEN. I mean it.

Okay, I think I need to be more creative with my titles..

More food updates! Tonight is my parent's anniversary so I thought to start it off with a nice seafood entree (Prawn Cocktails - as they are my Dad's fav), followed by Herb Crusted Lamb Cutlets with Stuffed Mushrooms & Green Beans and to top it off with dessert - Chocolate Fondant with Raspberry Coulis and Fresh Berries.

It sounds AMAAAAZING! I'm hoping it shall be as good as the pictures look. I'll take some to update you on and also add the recipes. Hopefully I'm not making you too hungry. Cos it's time for me to go cook!

As I haven't got any photos here... I thought to leave you with a couple from the French fashion label Kenzo for their Fall2010/Winter2011 Collection. I adore the colour and desert theme.

THOUGHTS

As I enjoy the occasional rant and rave, I thought to perhaps start a separate blog from La Friperie (My little blog shop that sells New, Pre-loved & Vintage Clothing). Here I shall share little snippets of things I love in my everyday life.

I have an obsession with making photos look vintage... I shall try to upload new ones as these seem dull and flat... not as enticing as photos of food should be. These are a couple of photos I took for my Mum's birthday of the meal I prepared.

ENTREE
Potato & Leek Soup

It came across a little greener than it should be. Usually potato & leek soup is white in colour. I put in some of the green part of the leek. Nice soup, although I could've made it tastier.

 MAIN
Chicken & Apricot Tagine with a Warm Lentil and Rice Salad

I decided a little Moroccan for the main couldn't hurt. Scrumptious. Great easy recipes.. except for the part where I had to chop up the whole chicken. Would've been much easier to buy one already cut up.

 DESSERT
Banana, Passionfruit & Blueberry Pudding with Grilled Bananas and Butterscotch Sauce.

This one was from the Junior Masterchef website. Very simple recipe and tasted delicious. Actually that goes for the other dishes I prepared too. Nom nom nom.

Happy birthday Mum!
